What BonsaiChef is
BonsaiChef is a cooking coach: it helps you track your pantry, find and generate recipes, log meals, and estimate nutrition. It is provided by Ethan Coffin.
Food safety, allergies, and nutrition — please read
Recipes, cooking guidance, ingredient identifications, and nutrition estimates — especially those produced by AI — can be wrong. You are responsible for verifying that food is safely prepared (temperatures, storage, cross-contamination), that ingredients are safe for you (allergies, intolerances, dietary or medical restrictions), and that nutrition information is accurate where it matters to your health. BonsaiChef is not medical or dietary advice. When in doubt, consult a qualified professional.
BonsaiChef Premium subscription
- Premium is an auto-renewing monthly subscription (currently $9.99 USD/month) purchased through your Apple account.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel anytime in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Free-tier features have daily usage limits; Premium raises those limits. We may adjust limits to keep the service sustainable, and will communicate meaningful changes.
Fair use
Don't attempt to circumvent usage limits, probe or disrupt our servers, or use the app's AI features for purposes unrelated to cooking and food. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
Your content
Photos you submit are used to provide the feature you requested (see the Privacy Policy). You confirm you have the right to submit what you upload.
Intellectual property
The app, its design, and its content (excluding your data and third-party recipe content) belong to us. Recipe results from third-party sources remain subject to their owners' rights.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms or discontinue features; material changes will be reflected on this page. You may stop using the app at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
